We had a great day today at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. League representatives Rick Mueller, Brendan Rowe, Byron Ellis, Eddy Janczewski along with a number of coaches were all in attendance at the South practice. Steve Hale (Senior Bowl President/CEO) has been extremely hospitable to the UFL and has done a great job with this year’s event. We were constantly congratulated on a successful “Premiere” season by countless NFL coaches, scouts, executives and media and were eager to hear of our plans for the coming year.
The day started with the traditional weigh-in where the truth comes out about each player’s height/weight. The smallest player was Ole Miss running back Dexter McCluster who is electric, but measured 5’8” and 165. He was however, impressive on the field. The biggest player is no surprise to anyone, Alabama DT Terrance Cody who tipped the scales at 370 pounds. The South team also included QB Tim Tebow who is trying to show everyone in attendance that he can play quarterback at the next level and he actually had a nice afternoon.
More to come tomorrow when we will get our first look at the North squad.
