The New York Sentinels play their first of three home games this season as they host the California Redwoods at Giants Stadium. New York will be looking to avenge a 24-7 loss to California earlier this season, the first UFL win for California Head Coach Dennis Green. Sentinels Head Coach Ted Cottrell will be looking for his first professional win as a head coach. The longtime NFL Defensive Coordinator spent 11 seasons leading NFL defenses, with three of those units ranking among the top six in the NFL in a given season, including the top ranked defense in the NFL in 1999 when he was the Defensive Coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. WR Craphonso Thorpe's 108 receiving yards leads the Sentinels and is third in the UFL. The former college great from Florida State has displayed his explosiveness. Sentinels CB Paul Pratt recorded the first interception in UFL history when he picked off Florida Tuskers QB Brooks Bollinger. During New York's first contest with California, the Sentinels started out strong, entering the locker room at halftime tied 7-7. However, New York was unable to score any points in the second half and couldn't stop the Redwoods offense led by RB Cory Ross. Ross recorded the first100+yard game in UFL history when he ran for 121 yards. This game also marked the debut of WR Doug Gabriel who led the team with 70 receiving yards. The Sentinels will next see action on Wednesday, November 4th when New York welcomes Jim Fassel and the Las Vegas Locos to James M.Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University.
