Starting a new football league, especially one that plans to play their games in the fall versus the NFL and College Football doesn’t seem likely to have a lot of success. However the folks running the UFL seem confident that they can run their league using a lot of principles learned by other minor league sports.

The United Football League’s New York Sentinels announced 16 additional names for its “Premiere” season roster.  The Sentinels, along with the Florida Tuskers, travel to Jacksonville today for player physicals.  The California Redwoods and Las Vegas Locomotives will also be conducting player physicals this week in Scottsdale.  Training camp for all four teams begin on September 14th in Orlando and Casa Grande, Arizona.

The United Football League announced today the hiring of Jeff Friday and Aaron Miller to oversee UFL’s strength & conditioning and athletic training programs, respectively. UFL Training Camps officially begin September 13th in Orlando and Casa Grande, Arizona.

All UFL players under contract with the California Redwoods and the Las Vegas Locomotives should be prepared to report to training camp in Phoenix, Arizona on September 9th 2009.  Players under contract with the Florida Tuskers and New York Sentinels should be prepared to report to training camp in Jacksonville, Florida on September 10, 2009.
