Mountain Lions Unveil New 2010 Team Uniforms at Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas
The Sacramento Mountain Lions and the United Football League unveiled their new team uniforms for the 2010 season at a spectacular event at the Grand Hall of the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
Two players from each of the league’s five teams were joined by UFL Commissioner MICHAEL HUYGHUE, members of the LocoMotion dance team and the new UFL fantasy cheerleader BETTY BOOP as fans enjoyed an exclusive look at the new uniforms.
Quarterback DAUNTE CULPEPPER and running back CORY ROSS represented the Mountain Lions.
“Honestly I think (the Sacramento uniforms) are phenomenal and very sharp. I like the color and I like the look. I’m excited,” Culpepper said. “It was a great thing and I had a great time. We had a chance to meet with some of the fans and go through the whole fashion show thing . . . Everywhere I go people are asking me about (the upcoming UFL season) and it’s a lot of excitement. People are looking forward to (the season).”
Ross also enjoyed the event and was honored that he was chosen to represent the Mountain Lions.
“It shows that they respect me and what I did for them (last year) and they want me to do a lot more things,” said Ross, who led the UFL in rushing last year. “I love the fact that they asked me and I’m proud to represent (the Mountain Lions and the UFL).”
Florida Tuskers running back DOMINIC RHODES and wide receiver CHAS GESSNER were the first to tread the runway in the Orlando-based team’s black, blue and white uniforms. Running back ANDRE DIXON and fullback ASAPH SCHWAPP showed off the blue, white and gold of the Hartford Colonials, followed by running back AHMAN GREEN and linebacker GARY STILLS in the silver, black and white of the Omaha Nighthawks.
Then came CULPEPPER and ROSS modeling the gold, black and white of the Sacramento Mountain Lions before the hometown cheers of the Las Vegas crowd welcomed Locos quarterback TIM RATTAY and tight end ADAM BERGEN in red, white and gray.
“We listened to the fans who wanted dynamic and distinctive uniforms for our second season and you can tell by the reaction here that they are pleased with the results,” said UFL Commissioner Huyghue. “Some of our marquee players were eager to be here this week and model the uniforms for the first time and only a few weeks from now they will be proudly wearing them again when the UFL season kicks off on September 18.”
The uniform unveiling also included a first look at the new UFL officials uniforms for the 2010 season and a guest appearance by BETTY BOOP, the world-famous cartoon character and UFL Fantasy Cheerleader, who was joined by the Locos’ LocoMotion dance team.
Following their appearance, the UFL players and cheerleaders signed autographs and posed for photographs with fans before visiting ‘The Pub’ at the Monte Carlo Hotel for a Locos Happy Hour, where fans had an opportunity to win tickets and relax with the stars of the United Football League and the Locos.
