The UFL is well on its way to its “Premiere” season with our first League workouts taking place in Orlando on Saturday. Many of the athletes who attended were pumped for the opportunity to get back into professional football or were looking for their first chance to make the leap into the pros.
Nearly all of the players invited to attend the League’s workout had spent many years in the NFL while a handful of players were invited based on their previous Arena or CFL experience. The talent displayed by these players fully validates what League officials have been saying from the UFL’s onset. There is more than enough talent to bring more high level professional outdoor football to more fans in more cities. Some of the highly skilled players who participated in the workout included Quinn Gray, David Boston, Travis Taylor, Reche Caldwell, Bobby Sippio, Jermaine Wiggins (who tweets even more than me), LaBrandon Toefield, Oliver Celestin and many others. Videos of the players participating in offensive and defensive drills are already en route to the coaches and we are now preparing for a similar workout in Las Vegas. Keep checking our website for pictures and video from the workouts.
Coach Green did a tremendous job of keeping fans in the loop with his running Twitter log from the workouts, in addition to those from the UFL feed and our PR staff. If you are not following us on Twitter, sign up so that you are in the loop of all the UFL action as it happens.
Tomorrow is another exciting day for the UFL as we hold our first N.Y.-based press conference, which will be streamed live on www.ufl-football.com to introduce our N.Y. franchise owner and allow the media to speak with our N.Y. Head Coach Ted Cottrell. We hope you will join us at 2:45 EST.
