Exciting Time For The UFL

Commissioner Michael Huyghue - June 02, 2009

The UFL continues to make progress on a weekly basis.  We recently launched our re-designed website and implemented new social networking tools.  We announced Dennis Green as Chair of the UFL's Competition Committee and introduced most of our assistant coaches.  The UFL was also featured prominently in several publications including Sports Business Journal, The Bergen Record and The Boston Globe.  Behind the scenes, the staff has been quite productive and we are excited to begin publicizing our work.   Over the next two months, we will be announcing new staff, uniforms and equipment, additional owners and investors, private player workouts and corporate partners.

As you might be able to tell, I have a new fascination with Twitter.  This is a great vehicle to communicate with the media and fans.  I plan on using this as my primary source of communication.  We will begin to send out a weekly newsletter recapping the week's activities and linking to the League's media coverage .  I encourage all of our fans to sign up at www.ufl-football.com

In the next two weeks, we will be holding invitation-only player workouts in Orlando and Las Vegas.  Many of these players have recognizable names and all have pro experience.  From this pool of talented athletes, we expect to sign our first group of players - approximately 20 per team.  The first photos of our "Premiere" season uniforms will also be unveiled in July.  We look forward to sharing our design process with you!

It is a very exciting time for the UFL and I encourage you to come along for the ride.

I too am excited about the UFL. Mr. Huyghue. I hope the league office is still looking to add on to thier office staff, as I have already shown interest by applying via the jobinquiry email address. This is great and different from the other start-up leagues. If I do not hear back from your office, I wish you all the best on your inaugural season.

Only 20 players per team from tryouts? Where will the other 33 players come from? How many total players will be on each team?
