UFL Hard At Work

Commissioner Michael Huyghue - April 12, 2009

With less than a month since the announcement of our head coaches and television partner, UFL executives have been busy preparing for the “Premiere” season.  On Wednesday, we announced the selection of The Leffler Agency as the League’s advertising agency for ticket sales.  The Leffler Agency is the leader in ticket sales and possesses the innovations and skills to help attract fans to our games.  We are in the process of building relationships with local government, corporations, charitable organizations and the media as we recognize the importance of being solid community partners in our markets.  Our Coaches’ Media Tours began in mid-March with our press conference at AT&T Park and will continue in each of our “Premiere” cities.  Last week, Coach Jim Fassel visited with the Las Vegas media to discuss why he wanted to be part of the UFL and his desire to be in Las Vegas to coach.

Our Coaches’ Media Tours are a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to print and broadcast journalists, and by extension, to the fans.   Coach Jim Haslett will be visiting Orlando in the next two week and plans are underway for Coach Cottrell to be in New York in May.  Please continue to check our website for any media coverage that emanates from these visits.  Our coaches have also been very busy hiring their staffs and we look forward to announcing these additions soon.

Next week, we are holding our first League-wide Executive Meetings in Orlando, which will also include a Board Meeting and Competition Committee Meeting.  Our coaches, coordinators and several of the League’s owners, including some new additions, will be in attendance.  (Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement introducing the newest UFL owners.)  Following our meetings, we will recap the events on our website so that we continue to keep the fans up-to-date on the latest UFL news.  I will also be scheduling another live chat in early May to answer any new questions.  We will be re-launching our website in the next few weeks with more interactive features that will provide you the fan with the accessibility you crave.  Our “Premierie” season is approaching quickly and we are excited to share with you all the behind-the-scenes decisions that go into the launching of a professional football league.

I really hope that the UFL comes about because I would like to be apart of the UFL. It's another chance for me and other young players to show case their talent to the world. I think this league will be really great for fans and other football fans.

You guys are true professionals. That's why I believe this league will definitly be sucessful this year and many more years ahead. Unlike the other upstart leagues, which seem to be going nowhere.

Any word on team uniforms, logo's, sponsors or is that to come after the meeting? If you do get corporate sponsors are you going to decide a look based on the corporations, like racing? I mean a team Coca Cola with Red and white and silver curved trim would actually look cool.
